Why the Week 17 Flex-Scheduling Needs to Be Smarter; Week 17 NFL Tips

Thanks to the order of games to be played on Sunday, Chicago-Green Bay might not even be a contest.

Now I’m not completely privy to the exact system by which the NFL flex-schedules the games later in the season, but I do know that the exact times and dates late in the season aren’t set in stone until a few weeks remain.

But what I want to know is, if all the games are being played on the same day this week, why couldn’t they have been scheduled better so as to demand more competition? (more…)

The only good NFC West-related item I could find.

In week 17, there are 16 games scheduled. Call it luck, call it good scheduling technique, but only five of those games have no possible playoff implications whatsoever.

New England host the Dolphins, but they’ve locked up AFC’s number one seed and Miami are out. Philadelphia hold the No. 3 seed in the NFC, and can’t move up nor down with a win or a loss against Dallas, who are also out. There’s three games this week being played between two teams definitely out of the playoffs. Those are MIN@DET, ARI@SF and SD@DEN.
